Striving for Excellence: Athletics

At Westwood Schools, I participate in many activities. I am very privileged to have received honors in many of the activities that i partake in. I play softball, basketball, and I run track. In softball, I received an All-Region award as a ninth grader, as well as an Honorable Mention award my tenth grade year. For my track career, in the eighth grade, I won second place in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, along with second place in pole-vault at the Region meet. At the State meet, I won sixth place in the 100 meter dash, eighth place in the 200 meter dash, and third place in pole-vault. In the ninth grade, I won second place in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, and I tied for first place in the pole-vault competition. At the State meet, I won second place in the 100 meter dash, sixth place in the 200 meter dash, and I won first place in the pole-vault competition.
I also have received many awards in academics from Westwood Schools. I have won the Highest Overall Academic Average grades seventh through ninth. I have also been awarded the Extra Mile Award and the Citizenship Award. I have also been elected to many leadership roles. I am currently the President of the Class of 2012. I was also elected by my peers to serve on the Homecoming Court in the ninth grade. I hold the position as Secretary for Y-Club and Treasurer for Student Government. For my tenth grade year, I serve as the Project Manager for the Middle School Blogging Group for the India Immersion Project. I have also received recognition world-wide. In the ninth grade, I wrote a column entitled, Ask Miller, for Mr. Terry Freedman, a leading technolgy expert in the United Kingdom. My column has been viewed many times, and I received many questions from readers that I answered for the column. I am also a member of the National Honor Society at Westwood Schools.
I am very privileged to have received the honors that I have. I look forward to working hard in hopes of earning more in the future.
