Education at Westwood
Westwood Schools is a college preparatory school that strives to prepare its students for success in college as well as the work force. Westwood challenges its students to achieve their maximum potential. Westwood has an excellent curriculum which offers classes in many different subjects. During my tenth grade year, I take English, Algebra, World History, Spanish, Biology, and Computer Science. These classes provide the building blocks and prepare us for college courses.
Another way that Westwood achieves this is by allowing students to participate in hands-on projects. One of the most recent projects that Westwood has allowed its students to participate in is the Flint River Immersion Project. For one week, students were divided into the groups of History, Literature, Math, and Science. The students were allowed to travel to the River to study their specific areas along with conduct interviews of people that have experience with the river. Westwood also has great teachers.
The Best Teachers
Westwood also has great teachers. All of the teachers that work at Westwood also help with other activities for the school. Some are club advisers and others are coaches. The teachers at Westwood sincerely care about every single student. They help all of the students so they may reach success. Westwood is a great school filled with great people. In my opinion, Westwood is a school of excellence, and just as the motto says, "Every child is a winner."
